Benton Co. Conservation plans full moon hike, annual golf tourney

The Benton County Conservation invites area residents to participate in two events this weekend. First, on Friday, June 9, a Full Moon Hike willbegin at 8 p.m. at the BC Conservation office at5718 20th Avenue Dr., Vinton. Participants are invited to "test out your night vision and learn more about our nocturnal friends that live at Rodgers Park.

Benton SWCD hosting first photo contest

The Benton County Soil and Water Conservation District (Benton SWCD) will be hosting their first photo contest! The Benton SWCD, in partnership with the Benton/Tama Nutrient Reduction Demonstration Project, is looking for Benton County agricultural photographs. Photos that showcase soil and water conservation will be given extra points during judging.

Vinton Feeds the World Fundraiser

Vinton Guild of Fine Arts 4th Annual Event Announced

'Be the Change:' Faith-based fitness program helps raise funds for local causes

Teresa Erger created "Be the Change," a new fitness program designed to also help local causes, in an attempt to inspire and connect local residents as they also try to improve their physical health. Erger partners with a national movement called REFIT. "It is a Christian-based fitness program that uses positive, uplifting music to inspire, change the lives, motivate, and focus on human connections," Erger says.

Garrison Farmer's Market weekly on Monday, 5 p.m.

By Dorothy Readnour Garrison's Farmer's Market will begin Monday June 5th at 5:00 PM. Allvendors are welcome for no charge. There will be fresh produce,delicious baked goods by Erica, Sweet Cakes cupcakes, crafts and jellyby Rose. The Garrison Lion's Club will be grilling hot dogs. Come onout and join the fun in the parking lot at the Public Library.

Vinton American Legion and the local Boy Scouts to conduct Flag Disposal

Weather permitting, the Vinton American Legion and the local Boy Scouts will be conducting a flag disposal ceremony Thursday June 8 at 7 p.m. There is a flag drop off can outside of the Legion building's, front door,105 North R Ave.

Vinton American Legion Monthly Fish Fry, June 9

The Vinton American Legion, 105 North R Ave, will be having its monthly fish fry Friday June 9 from 4 to 7 p.m. We will be serving Fish Fillet, Baked Potato, Potato Salad, Coleslaw, Baked Beans and Cake Adults: $8.00 Children 5 to 12: $4.00 Children under 5: Free All you can eat, while supplies last. Please note July 1st price will go up $1.
